It’s okay to be alone
It’s okay to be alone, it doesn’t mean you’re lonely
We are so stimulated these days with social media, zoom calls, kids, and family obligations. We’re always doing something and running around. We are also always with someone or engaging with someone.
How often are you alone? Do you take time to just be with yourself?
Sometimes the thought of being alone is scary. I think it’s because we associate it with being lonely.
I was having a conversation with my friend about traveling and how I was kind of scared to be alone. She encouraged me to lean into the idea and see the benefits.
So I did take some time to do that. Here’s what I came up with.
Being alone does NOT mean you are lonely
You get to pick your own adventure. Whatever it is YOU want to do and explore.
You could make new friends
You get to know yourself and see what it is you want without outside influence.
You get to go back and share your adventures with your loved ones.
The book “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron suggested taking yourself on a date.
So where would you take yourself?
I believe this journey with ourselves is the most effective mental health day.
